These artists have incorporated their feline companions into their works, and in this piece, Valdez sought to uphold and honor this tradition by creating a shrine dedicated to her own cat, Ollie. The shrine is characterised by intricate decorative elements and an elaborate design symbolising a reverence for the long standing tradition of depicting cats in the realm of painting.
