39+ Art Space is pleased to announce our debut participation in Art Jakarta 2024, showing a solo presentation of Chinese artist Huang Dan (b. 1979) for the first time in Southeast Asia, titled:
Huang Dan: A pale view of Hills
Fair-goers are invited to immerse themselves in Huang’s dream-like landscapes of nature, and reworking of impressionist influence into classic Chinese romanticism.
Huang Dan was born in Guangxi, China, in 1979. Choosing to study art was part passion, part compulsion, driven by her yearning to capture the vibrancy and vigour of her surroundings. Moving to Beijing at once separated her from some aspects of the natural world, and affirmed her fascination with its strange beauty. She was in the capital to study at the Central Academy of Fine Arts: she graduated with a BA from the Department of Traditional Chinese Painting in 2001. In 2004, she was awarded an MA from the same institution. Huang currently lives and works in Beijing.
